Crawling under your skin, like a sleeping volcano...
Maria Lucia & Séverine Van der Stighelen.
Performance, 15 /11/2008, 8 p.m. @ Echo.Base, followed by an artist talk
Installation, 16/11/2008 from 2 p.m. till 7 p.m.
Just like air is to fire, feelings are to conflict. Breathing conflicts:
conflicts as a condition for life. Where conflict turns into the search
to find balance, an equilibrium, but a vulnerable equilibrium where
feelings have the power to control the action, the thought, conscious
or unconscious. Contradictory tensions in a reality where every being
can be touched and surprised by the connections, by the forces against
the nude reality and the lost translation in the unexpected world of
sensations.
Conflict In Residency
For our residency in Echo.Base we want to research conflicts within relationships between objects, us and the space.
Two people try to build something: a house, a friendship, a relation. They try to relate with one another. Building evokes tensions and conflicts. There is no ready-made way straight to the top, no road without obstacles.
But does conflict necessarily have to be something negative? Confrontation gives ‘feelings crawling under your skin’, an opportunity to erupt like ‘the awakening of the sleeping volcano’. Can conflict become liberating?
